Holy grail for teaching programming

MIT’s Scratch gained a lot PR recently, while Squeak‘s eToy is around for some time.

Is it just a matter of cutie user interfaces and websites or is it definitely better?

By the way Scratch looks very similar to Lego NXT Software, although does not differ much to me from eToy besides finely rendered fonts and cute graphics.
